Course instructor/owner holds a Masters degree in mathematics, teaches children using unique techniques which children find fun and engaging.




Offering Reading and Writing classes led and developed by an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT)

Our Goals:
To provide intensive, explicit and systematic instruction in a small group setting. To differentiated instruction in order to meet each student’s specific learning style. To help students develop and build essential reading skills needed to become successful and confident.

Learning Modalities

Students learn in different ways or styles. There are 4 approaches of acquiring new skills:

  1. Visual
  2. Auditory
  3. Tactile
  4. Kinesthetic

The majority of students can learn by using all of these modalities, however some are stronger in one or two.


Reading is a very systematic complex skill to acquire. There are many sub-skills that come together to develop confident readers:

Alphabet recognition

Alphabet sound recognition

Blending of sounds

Consonant blends and digraphs

Vowel diphthongs

Building words

Building sentences



Focus will be on:

Phonological Awareness and Fluency

Vocabulary Development

Reading Fluency

Students who develop strong writing skills acquire a valuable tool for learning, communicating and self expression. Writing is a process that develops over time and these skills are developed in a variety of ways.

We focus on providing daily time for students to write while teaching the writing process. We use graphic organizers. Progress from imaginative spelling to proper spelling. Proper grammar use. Development of sentence and paragraph structure.

About the Teacher:

Nancy Zangari is a qualified Ontario Teacher. She has taught for over 35 years, specializing in remedial reading and writing.
Mrs. Zangari has a Specialist in Special Education and has spent the last 15 years in this area, first as an in school Special Education Teacher and then as a Special Education Resource Consultant with the Toronto Catholic District School Board (TCDSB).

Mrs. Zangari has not lost her enthusiasm for teaching or her own love of learning.
